Deacon Kurayev: mixed marriages between Russian women and Caucasians a form of genocide of the Russian people
Moscow, August 31, Interfax - Deacon Andrey Kurayev, professor at Moscow Theological Academy, is concerned for an increase in the number of inter-ethnic marriages in Russia.
‘Actually, inter-ethnic marriage is a form of genocide of the Russian people! When our women marry Caucasians they enrich other nations with their own genes, while the Russian nation is thus weakened!” Father Andrey stated in an interview published in the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily on Friday.
He believes children born to a family of a Russian woman and a Dagestanian ‘will be Dagestanian and, what is more, Muslim’.
The renowned theologian recalled that the Israeli authorities, in particular, pursue an official state policy against marriages between Jews and Muslims. They have a special ministry collecting statistics of inter-ethnic marriages, which, once published, ‘often arouse indignation in society’.
‘But in Russia, unfortunately, even the very problem of inter-ethnic marriages is not recognized as existing’, the professor regretted.
According to the daily, every forth marriage officially registered in Moscow today is inter-ethnic. Some 20 years ago, such unions were rare: there were only three inter-ethnic couples out of 20 marriages. In 61% of the inter-ethnic cases, it is Muscovite women who marry men of other nations.
